A year ago, my husband and I embarked on a large-scale project in our backyard. We had an old design in place that had deteriorated over the last 20 years, so we were looking to refresh, but also incorporate some very interesting and creative touches to the yard. We had a vision in mind to create a relaxing Zen like area surrounded by beautiful and unique flowers and plants. We wanted to extend our outdoor living/entertainment areas by incorporating path and up lighting to draw people down to this area during the day or night. Our yard is terraced, on a downslope lot, which added some challenges to the project. We interviewed at least three different landscapers for the job. The first two landscapers we interviewed were overwhelmed by the large scale of the project and felt they would have to bring in additional tradespeople to do some of the work. From the lack of excitement from the first two interviews we felt a bit discouraged going into our third, but then, we met Michael Alvarado. Michael was like a breath of fresh air. He listened intently to what we wanted and genuinely appeared enthusiastic about the project. He provided a lot of his own creative design ideas that ultimately enhanced our vision. It was apparent Michael just got us and understood what we wanted the end result to be. We ended up hiring Michael on the spot and worked with him closely over a year to complete all the stages of our project. Michael is extremely talented and skilled in his work; his knowledge of design and plants is exceptional. We were impressed by Michael’s ability to turn our vision into a reality from the beginning stages of conception, to implementation to full execution. As we have told Michael several times, the completion of our backyard, was an absolute dream come true for us!
